Tour Details

Day 1: Hanoi to Thac Ba lake (Distance 180km)

At 8:30 a.m., depart from the eastern outskirts of Hanoi on our short northern Vietnam motorcycle tour. We will escape the congested metropolis by riding a motorbike down the Red River dyke, which will provide us with a truly pleasurable Vietnam motorbike trip in the Red River delta, complete with a magnificent view of rice fields and villages. At noon, we'll be in the middle of Doan Hung town, where we'll have lunch at a little restaurant. After lunch, we can either ride our motorcycles down the winding mountain roads to Thac Ba Lake or take a longer road to the lake that will take us via some rural villages and lush tea plantations. We'll arrive in the late afternoon at the quiet village of Vu Linh, where we'll spend the night.

Day 2: Thac Ba lake to Phu Yen (Distance 170km)

Start the day with a tranquil boat ride around Thac Ba Lake, which is known as Ha Long Bay on Mountain with over 1300 islands. It is a short boat ride but it will provide you with a memorable experience. After that, continue on your North Vietnam motorcycle tour to Phu Yen; we'll arrive at Yen Bai town at midday for lunch.

Then we'll take a motorcycle trip to Phu Yen along winding mountain roads, passing through the Lung Lo mountain pass, one of northern Vietnam's most picturesque mountain crossings.

At 5:00 p.m, arrive in Phu Yen and take a rest in a hotel.

Day 3: Phu Yen to Mai Chau (distance 170km)

After breakfast, we'll go for a terrific motorbike ride down the Da River's twisting road, where we'll get the opportunity to see the lovely route between the mountain and the river, as well as various Muong communities. We'll motorbike up and up to the Moc Chau plateau, which is 1000 meters above sea level, after crossing the river by ferry boat.

Lunch will be served at the Moc Chau restaurant. After lunch, we will take a brief but lovely motorbike trip to the Hua Tat pass, another stunning mountain pass built by the French in North Vietnam. The motorbike excursion across this peaceful pass promises to be one of the nicest in Northern Vietnam. 

At 4 p.m., we will arrive in Mai Chau Valley. Stay at a Thai family's home.

Day 4: Back to Hanoi

There are several options for returning to Hanoi from Mai Chau. According to Vietnam Motorbike Tour, the following are the two finest roads to take:

Option 1: 170 km motorbike excursion along the Da River on an ancient French road

We'll return to Route 6 and turn left into a little, less trafficked French road that runs alongside the Da River Lake. The view from this vantage point is impressive. The meandering road runs between the mountain and the lake. This is one of the best Vietnam motorcycle excursions in the north, and we highly suggest it.

Option 2: Return to Hanoi on a motorcycle excursion along the Ho Chi Minh trail (240 km).

If you are an experienced motorbike rider, Vietnam Motorbike Tour recommends choice 2. There are many attractions along this road, and you will have the opportunity to have a fantastic motorbike journey along the Ho Chi Minh trail. It is, however, much lengthier.
