Detailed Tour

Day 1: Hanoi to Ba Be Lake (distance 240km)

This fantastic motorbike tour of northern Vietnam begins at 8 a.m. We make every effort to avoid congested city roads in the morning till we get at Cho Chu town (Thai Nguyen province), where we have lunch. After lunch, we'll take a leisurely motorbike trip to Ba Be, where the roads are less congested and the scenery is spectacular.

Around 4 p.m. We arrive at Pac Ngoi, a lovely Tay hamlet nestled gently on the shores of Ba Be Lake. Stay with the Tay family and eat in a diner.

Day 2: Ba Be lake to Meo Vac (distance 170km)

After saying our goodbyes to the family, we'll ride our motorcycles through some rural towns and the rainforest on back roads. Then we ride our motorcycles through several brooks. This seems to be a fantastic day for off-road motorbike travel in Vietnam.

We'll have lunch in Bao Lac before continuing our magnificent motorbike trip of Northern Vietnam to Meo Vac through a picturesque road that rises over numerous passes and provides views of stunning mountain ranges and the Nho Que river. By 5.00 p.m., arrive in Meo Vac. Dinner in town, followed by a night in a hotel.

The Dong Van old quarter is home to ancient and distinctive architecture near Ha Giang Province's border with China. Meo Vac Town is located in the center of the Dong Van Rock Plateau, which was declared as part of the Global Geo-Park Network in 2009. As a result, bikers like to go on a Ha Giang  motorcycle tour.

Day 3: Meo Vac to Ha Giang (distance 180km)

Today's journey promises to be the spotlight of this cycling trip in north Vietnam, as we will visit one of Vietnam's most remote areas, where we will see many ethnic minorities with their distinct cultures and imposing mountains such as: Pi Leng Pass – one of the four longest and most gorgeous passes in Vietnam, the Rock Plateau, the Vuong palace in Dong Van, and the "Heaven Gate" in Quan Ba. 

Dinner and overnight stay with the other Tay's family or in a motel in Ha Giang city. 

Ha Giang is 300 kilometers from Hanoi and lies at Vietnam's highest latitude. Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai surround it. In the north, it shares boundaries with China. In Vietnam's Ha Giang province, several minority groups exist, including the Dao, H'mong, Tay, and Nung.

Day 4: Ha Giang to Sapa (distance 220km)

Today we travel directly to the northwestern mountain range, where the major Fansipan Mountain range dominates the route until we reach Sapa. The route is quite smooth, with a beautiful view of green mountains and rice fields amid charming hill tribal settlements. We'll take a wonderful motorbike ride up to Sapa after a short stop in Lao Cai to explore the Chinese border. 

This motorcycle journey climbs to a height of 1.600 meters above sea level. It must be one of the greatest motorbike tours in North Vietnam, with a spectacular perspective of the mountains and terrace fields.

Arrive in Sapa at around 5:00 p.m. and spend the night in a Sapa hotel.

Day 5: Sapa to Mu Cang Chai (distance 150km)

You have till 1 p.m. to explore Sapa before checking out of the hotel and continuing on to Than Uyen. We will make a spectacular ascent from Sapa to the top of Vietnam's highest road pass (Tram Ton Pass). At a height of almost 2000 meters above sea level, we enter Lai Chau Province. This is a short Sapa motorcycle tour, but it may be the most entertaining.

Have dinner and stay at a hotel or a homestay with the Tay family.

Day 6: Mu Cang Chai to Phu Yen (distance 190km)

We continue to ride up and down into a wooded and high mountain region inhabited by H'mong people. Before descending into a hilly tea-growing region, we'll walk up a very high mountain pass. Soon after, we go to Phu Yen across a long valley bottom covered in a sea of rice and flanked by Hmong and Thai communities. Especially after lunch in Tu Le, which is known for its terrace fields, the ride through the villages and rice terraces is highly recommended. Another highlight of this North Vietnam motorcycle tour is this. Arrive at Phu Yen town around 5:00 p.m. Staying in the hotel for the night.

Day 7: Phu Yen to Mai Chau Valley (distance 160km)

It's a short motorcycle trip to Mai Chau Valley, but it's a fun one! It provides some new perspectives than in the past, with various hill tribes. We'll have a fantastic ride along the Da River lake on the twisting route between the river lake and the mountains after Phu Yen town. It's most likely a motorbike excursion along the central Vietnamese coast -  Motorbike Tour in Vietnam. After taking a boat across the Da River, we'll ride our motorcycles up to the Moc Chau plateau, where we'll have lunch. After lunch, we'll head to the calm mountain road of Hua Tat, which was built by the French during the war and now appears to be forgotten, so the short ride to Mai Chau is also the highlight of the Northern Vietnam Motorbike Tour.

At 4:30 p.m., arrive at Mai Chau. Stay in a Thai family's home in Poom-coong hamlet.

Day 8: Back to Hanoi (distance 170km)

In the morning, take a brief walk about the Thai villages to get a sense of the calm lives of the locals, and then begin the motorbike journey back to Hanoi at around 9 a.m. We'll eat lunch after passing over two gorgeous mountain passes - Thung Khe and Doc Cun – and then take the high road back to Hanoi.
