Embarking on an exhilarating motorcycle adventure across this country promises to leave an indelible mark on any traveler's heart. If you want an adrenaline rush, a chance to connect with nature, or a deep dive into captivating history, refer to our Vietnam motorcycle tours 2024 below.
The Vietnam motorcycle tour departed from the capital center to the East early in the morning. The further away from the bustling city and crazy traffic, the noise from vehicles and tall buildings gradually disappeared. Along the Red River, we were greeted by peaceful landscapes blended with lush rice fields and rustic villages.
When the sun embraced the roads, it was time we set foot on the winding mountain roads. It was a gentle start to awaken our adventurous soul, and then we sped up to reach Thac Ba Lake before dark. The gentle breeze followed us across the vast green tea hills until we stopped at Vu Linh village. Luckily, we still had time to take a boat around the lake to bask in the romantic sunset.
Our team started off the day earlier than usual and spent more time exploring Thac Ba Lake. As we tore off the morning mist, it revealed a new stunning scene; every step was filled with anticipation and excitement. The blend of small islands rising from the clear water and green mountains reminded us of the world's natural wonder, Ha Long Bay.
Heading to northern Vietnam, we geared up for the off-road challenges ahead! After leaving Yen Bai town, we came across Lung Lo pass with off-camber curves. It was not the most difficult route to satisfy our thirst for thrills and spills, but it was one of the most beautiful. Our team was treated to an expansive view of vast rice fields that stretched as far as the eye could see, dotted by small villages.
We could not contain our excitement as we looked forward to the day's off-road challenges. Traveling along the majestic Da River was a rewarding experience; we found ourselves immersed in a realm where natural beauty radiated with majestic mountains and a tranquil river. We also stopped by some villages of the Muong ethnic to learn about their colorful cultures and lifestyle.
Then, we got on the ferry that took us to Moc Chau plateau – a must-go destination. But before that, we conquered the long-standing Hua Tat Pass built by the French. This route gave us the opposite emotions from the previous day. The cold, deserted road with the narrow turns evoked a creepy feeling and sent chills down our spine.
There were two ways to return to the capital from Mai Chau. We decided to take longer routes to explore the Ho Chi Minh trail. Fortunately, we had a good time with a friendly guide who told many historical stories about this road. Consider degraded terrain if you want to follow in our footsteps.
Beginners and inexperienced riders had better follow Route 6 back to the winding road along the Da River. The most interesting part of this option was the small old French road. Traversing off the beaten path, we could let our guard down and relax to capture nature with our eyes and heart.
Our amazing adventures headed to the countryside from the tourist city of Da Nang. Rugged roads led us to lush fields and traditional craft villages of rice paper or incense. The motorbike tour continued to guide us to My Son Sanctuary, famous for its architectural masterpieces from the 4th to the 13th century AD.
The complex comprises a cluster of temples made from red bricks and intricate carvings, reflecting the remarkable craftsmanship of the Champa people.
Right after that, we turned to the Ho Chi Minh trail to Kon Tum. We never felt bored along the way, as we visited many ethnic minorities, hill villages, and historical sites.
Following the Ho Chi Minh trail, our Vietnam motorcycle tour moved under the vast canopy of trees to explore the majestic highlands. Nestled within the captivating embrace of nature, we discovered vibrant communities of ethnic minorities like the Ba Na, E De, and Ktu. Their homes amidst the awe-inspiring beauty provided a glimpse into their unique ways of life, offering a captivating tapestry of heritage and nature coexisting harmoniously.
When exploring the Pleiku region, the Sea Lake captured all of our attention. This land, nestled amidst rolling hills and lush forests, created a breathtaking tableau that left us in awe. Believe us; its mesmerizing blue-green waters and the picturesque landscape surrounding it will surely steal your heart at first sight!
A whole new facet of Central Vietnam unfolded on the third day when we encountered vast expanses of coffee plantations and rubber fields. Stopping by a local farm, we had an opportunity to partake in coffee harvesting and processing. And what better way to reward our hard work than with a strong, aromatic cup of coffee?
Continuing on the adventure, we revved up and headed towards the magnificent clusters of waterfalls. The winding route triggered our adventurous souls even more.
We knew the journey was worthwhile the moment we stood before the magnificent Dray Sap and Dray Nu waterfalls. Witnessing the water cascading down into the vast lakebed, we marveled at the sheer power of nature as you. The thunderous sound and the mist that filled the air created a sense of grandeur and exhilaration.
After a delectable breakfast, a boat took us along the serene waters of Lak Lake. When we reached the opposite shore, the warm welcome of the M'nong villages awaited us. We took time to meet friendly locals before returning to the Ho Chi Minh trail towards Nha Trang.
The scenic coastal road stretching ahead promised many captivating attractions. We let the fresh breeze caressed our face, and the worries of daily life seemed to vanish into thin air. After basking in the golden hues of the setting sun after miles of motorcycle riding, we put an end to our trip.
The motorbike tour Vietnam moved to the Southwest water region after leaving the bustling city behind. As we passed by My Tho, the faint scent of ripe rice in the air filled our lungs, so our team slowed down to admire the rice fields and the scene of a busy harvest season.
The next stop was the Coconut Kingdom - Ben Tre on the narrow road between peaceful villages. As we arrived and saw the straight rows of coconut trees along both sides of the road, we finally knew where that moniker came from.
We rode a short distance to reach Can Tho, the heart of the Mekong Delta. In contrast to the peaceful daytime vibe, a symphony of lights, music, and people was at full swing as the night unfolded. Streets that were once quiet now pulsed with energy, and the city's rhythm seemed quicken.
After a special night in Can Tho, we woke up early the following day to visit the Cai Rang floating market - an interesting cultural activity of the river region. The market came alive in the early morning hours as colorful boats adorned with fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other merchandise gathered on the water.
Another highlight was the mouth-watering array of local delicacies. We treated our stomachs with delicious bowls of hu tieu for only about $2.
Following that was a short ride to Chau Doc. It was easy to notice a distinct change in the houses, local costumes, vegetation, lifestyle, etc. Due to the short travel distance, we could reach our destination around noon, just in time to take a cable car to the top of Cam Mountain for a panoramic view of the town.
A new day greeted us with inspiring activities in the central area of Chau Doc. Located in the upper reaches of the Mekong River, this land is filled with floating houses that are a refuge for fish farmers. Our team decided to rent a raft to visit these unique structures and discover the unique fish farming method of the locals.
If you are interested in tribal cultures, Chau Doc has something to spoil you. Schedule a stop at Mubarak Mosque or Khmer and Cham villages and learn about their traditional occupations.
