POSTED ON 10/31/2023

Vietnam is a country that is best explored on two wheels. With its stunning green rice paddies, rural villages, and delicious food, it is no wonder that Vietnam motorbike trips 2024 have become one of the most searched keywords.

In this article, I will share my experience of a 7-day motorbike trip to Southern Vietnam. I will take you through the highlights of the adventure, from the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City to the idyllic Buon Me Thuot.

Vietnam Motorbike Trips 2024: 7 Days To The Highland

Day 1: Saigon to Vung Tau Beach Motorbike Trip - 135 km

Vietnam Motorbike Trips 2024: 7 Days To The Highland

Vung Tau’s emerald beaches left us in awe

On the first morning of the 7-day Vietnam motorbike trip, we met our tour guide, Mr. Tam, at the hotel in Saigon. After we loaded up our luggage, we set off and headed toward Vung Tau Beach.

Our first stop was the Can Gio Mangrove Forest, a biodiverse ecosystem teeming with exotic wildlife. We embarked on a leisurely boat ride through the mangroves, marveling at the fascinating array of nature, including monkeys, crocodiles, and snakes.

After our boat trip, we stopped for lunch at a local restaurant, where I savored the steaming Bo Kho, a traditional Vietnamese beef stew. The star anise and other spices infused the stew with a complex and delectable flavor.

In the afternoon, we arrived at Vung Tau Beach. The white sand stretched as far as the eye could see, and the clear blue water sparkled in the sun. Palm trees swayed gently in the breeze, creating a tropical paradise.

We basked in the warm sun, swam in the crystal-clear waters, and feasted on a delectable array of grilled seafood at one of the many beachfront restaurants. It was a truly charming city, and we felt our spirits soaring with each passing moment.

Day 2: Vung Tau to the Red Sand Dunes Motorcycle Tour - 166 km

On the next day of our Vietnam motorcycle trips, Mr. Tam took us to visit the Red Sand Dunes, a natural marvel in the tropical paradise of Phan Thiet. I’ve heard that the dunes were unique for their shape-shifting due to natural factors. Nghinh Phong Cape welcomed us with a stunning view of the coastline.

Our team decided to pause for lunch at a small restaurant as the aromas of Vietnamese cuisine wafted from the roadside. We ordered banh xeo, a Vietnamese crispy golden pancake filled with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts, and onions.

Our journey continued to Mui Ne. We rode through the countryside, passing by rice paddies, rubber plantations, and small villages.

We arrived in Mui Ne in the late afternoon and checked into our hotel. Then, we headed straight for the Red Sand Dunes.

The sky was ablaze with color, and the dunes were bathed in a golden glow. They were massive, undulating waves of sand. I stood there for a long time, just watching the dunes dance.

Eventually, we headed back to the hotel to end the night with a wholesome dinner filled with a steaming bowl of clam chowder, a basket of freshly baked bread, and a couple of cold beers.

Day 3: Mui Ne to the Fishing Village Phan Thiet Motorbike Ride - 7 km

Sand dunes in Mui Ne are masterpieces of nature

After visiting the Red Sand Dunes, we again rode our motorbikes to the nearby fishing village in the morning.

The village was a hive of activity, with fishermen preparing their boats for the day's catch and women selling fresh seafood at the market.

For lunch, we stopped at a small restaurant in the fishing village. I ordered bun ca, a Vietnamese noodle soup with fish. The fish is flavorful, the broth is rich, and the herbs add freshness and lightness. After that, taking a walk through the fishing village and chatting with the locals made us find peace inside. We learned about their way of life and the challenges they face.

Later on, we went to the Fairy Stream, a kaleidoscope of colors of blue, green, and yellow flowing through a narrow valley.

Our motorcycle tour then stopped at the White Sand Dunes, a pristine expanse of ivory sand. The dunes were sculpted by the wind into gentle curves and undulating waves, creating a landscape of breathtaking beauty.

Day 4: Phan Thiet to the Valley of Love Motorbike Trip - 160 km

Heating up with a warm-up ride after breakfast, we arrived in Da Lat. The city was nestled in the mountains, and the air was noticeably cooler.

Along the way, you will pass through several rural villages and towns. There are also a few tourist attractions along the route, such as the Linh Phuoc Pagoda and the Elephant Waterfall.

We made a beeline for the Valley of Love, a park renowned for its manicured gardens, flowerbeds, and sparkling lake. Strolling through the park allowed us to admire and capture the jaw-dropping scenery on camera.

The park also boasts amorous monuments, including the iconic Love Statue of a couple embracing passionately. A cable car drove us to the top of Dream Hill, where we had a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

In the afternoon, we continued our journey to Da Lat on our motorbikes. As the sun dipped under the horizon, we arrived in the enchanting city of Da Lat and checked into our hotel.

Then, we ventured out to savor a fine meal at a local restaurant that served traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The food was exquisite, while the prices were surprisingly reasonable.

Day 5: Dalat to Dambri Waterfall Motorcycle Trip - 38 km

The waterfall looks like a silken handkerchief woven by nature

The ride to Dambri Waterfall was exhilarating. We wound our way through the lush green countryside, passing by rice paddies, coffee plantations, and small villages.

An hour of riding led our team to Dambri Waterfall - a majestic masterpiece of nature, straight out of a storybook or a cinematic dream.

The water cascaded down a series of rocky steps, creating a white veil of mist. The lush vegetation and melodious birdsong created a tranquil ambiance.

We parked our motorbikes and walked to the base of the waterfall. Then, we decided to have our little picnic lunch. We found a shady spot under a tree to spread out our blanket and enjoyed the meal of Vietnamese sandwiches, fresh fruit, and cold drinks.

Our team spent the next few hours exploring the area around the waterfall. Climbing to the top of the waterfall rewarded us with a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside. We also visited the Dambri Cave, a limestone cave located near the waterfall.

In the afternoon, we rode our motorbikes back to the city center. The day trip was just as enjoyable as the ride to the waterfall.

Day 6: Da Lat to Buon Ma Thuot Motorbike Trip Experience - 110 km

The next morning, we took through the picturesque Central Highlands, where we were immersed in the rich coffee heritage of the region.

We paused at a local restaurant in a quaint village to savor traditional Vietnamese cuisine, such as pho and banh mi, while absorbing the local ambiance.

Our first destination in the afternoon was a coffee plantation, where we gained insights into the various stages of coffee production, from planting to harvesting to processing. We also had the pleasure of sampling freshly brewed coffee from the plantation.

The next stop was the Central Highlands Museum, which showcased the region's rich cultural tapestry. Our team could not miss the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Museum, where we learned about the history and cultivation of coffee in the region.

In the evening, we dined at a hotel restaurant that served Vietnamese cuisine. We also enjoyed a cup of coffee from one of the many sophisticated coffee shops in the city.

Day 7: Buon Ma Thuot to Yok Don National Park Motorcycle Tour - 50 km

We had a chance to get back to nature in Buon Ma Thuot

I was eager to explore the country's diverse landscapes and wildlife on the last day of our motorbike trips Vietnam. To my delight, the motorbike tour included a brief excursion to Yok Don National Park, a vast expanse of pristine jungle and home to an incredible diversity of wildlife.

We visited the Yok Don Elephant Sanctuary, where we learned about the plight of Asian elephants and the efforts being made to conserve them. We also had the opportunity to interact with these gentle giants up close.

Later in the day, a knowledgeable local guide accompanied us on a trek in the jungle, sharing insights into the biodiversity. We had the opportunity to observe monkeys, snakes, birds, and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

Following the trek was a cheerful picnic lunch by a river. We enjoyed our meal while listening to the sound of the flowing water and the birds chirping in the trees.

In the afternoon, we headed back to Buon Ma Thuot. To our surprise and delight, the hotel restaurant was hosting a buffet party to celebrate the end of the tourist season.

The special farewell dinner was lavish, with a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes to choose from. We enjoyed a delicious meal while socializing with other guests and the hotel staff.

As we rode back the next morning, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by the beauty of the rice fields that stretched out before me. The golden grains swayed gently in the breeze, creating a breathtaking scene.

I had never seen such vast and vibrant rice fields before. They seemed to go on forever, as far as the eye could see. The fields were interspersed with small villages and towns, but the rice was the dominant feature of the landscape.

My seven-day Southern Vietnam motorbike tour was an unforgettable experience. I got to see some of the most beautiful scenery in Vietnam, meet some wonderful people, and savor its food. I also learned a lot about Vietnamese culture and history.

If you are considering Vietnam motorbike trips 2024, I highly recommend it. Let’s explore the country and immerse in its unique culture!
