We got our wheels turning at 8:00 a.m. and were out of Hanoi and the eastern suburbs by 8:30 en route to Cho Chu town in Thai Nguyen province. 

After checking out the French colonial-era Cho Chu prison, we set off on the more than 240 km ride to Ba Be Lake. The first spot on the go was Pac Ngoi, a sweet-tempered village inhabited by Tay ethnic group. In the evening, our team hosted a Gala dinner to share all the incredible travel experiences with the locals.

Regarding Ba Be Lake, we were awed by the clarity of the lake's water. Indeed, it made it a prime spot for water sports like kayaking and boat trips. A visit to Ba Be Lake rounded out the splendor of Ba Be National Park.

After all, we ended the first day with an early sleep to prepare for the following days. Exciting vibes and things kept lingering in our minds until we were deep asleep.

Day 2: Ba Be - Dong Van Motorbike Tour

On the incredible trip' second day, we made our way to Dong Van. The tour guide gave us core knowledge about the region's rich cultural heritage, local customs, and schedule details. 

Reaching Dong Van, we first felt the cold breeze caressing our faces and gazed in awe at the majestic natural beauty of the vast green forests, twisting rivers, and fresh streams.

To burn off the morning's calories, we took a stroll along the Gam River after wheeling around Dong Van. The downtime was brief but long enough to recharge our batteries for an afternoon ride for Ma Pi Leng. 

Ma Pi Leng pass is one of the longest and wildest routes in Northern Vietnam, making it a go-to site for shots and photographers. 

Our time at Bao Lam was followed by a visit to Meo Vac for dessert. We met members of underrepresented groups here, including the Hmong, Dao, Lo Lo, and Tay. It was the perfect moment to hone in on these people and their fascinating, contrasting ways of life.

At the end of the day, we rested comfortably in a hotel in Dong Van for the night.

Day 3: Dong Van - Ha Giang Motorbike Tour

Our team left Dong Van on the third day and traveled directly to Ha Giang. Seeing the innocent, bright-cheeked faces of disadvantaged ethnic people could make us melancholy. 

The Karst Plateau in Dong Van and the Heaven Gate landscape in Quan Ba also took our breath away with their breathtakingly beautiful alpine beauty. As a result, motorbike tourists should start their journey in Northeast Vietnam.

We arrived in Ha Giang in the late afternoon. The Tay residents welcomed us for supper and an early night at a villa that had been renovated to reflect the traditional architecture and decor of the area. 

The terrain was flawless, with winding mountain passes perched on cliff faces above rushing rivers and quiet back roads winding through limestone spires' forests.

Day 4: Ha Giang - Thac Ba Lake Motorbike Tour

After a hearty breakfast, we hopped on our motorcycles and rode from Ha Giang City to Vu Linh. 

This route took riders along through the stunning rice terraces of Ha Giang, the winding lanes of Luc Yen town, and the looming mountains of Thac Ba lake before ending in the glittering splendor of the lake itself. 

After a long, rocky drive, we stopped for lunch and a break. Before dark, we arrived at a guesthouse close to Thac Ba lake to take a terrific boat excursion to explore the lake's immense space and create precious experiences.

Indeed, sightseeing in a boat is the most enjoyable option for exploring the lake. We could stop and take pictures of the islands, see natives fishing with nets, and explore spectacular caves on some islands while out on the boat. 

It was a terrific time to reflect on the peace and pristine the area's beauty.

Day 5: Thac Ba - Hanoi Motorbike Tour

After a hearty lunch with a local family, our group headed back to Hanoi via the highway. As we drove by the quiet, smoke-free country roads, we could feel our hearts skip a beat in awe of the love we had received for these past few days. 

Getting back to Hanoi, we spent a bit of time hanging out in the Hanoi streets at night. It has a certain beauty, which was once old and modern, tranquil and faintly brilliant. 

Hanoi exuded a tranquil and seductive charm, and there were many intriguing things for everyone to explore, in stark contrast to the hectic morning scene.
